The SGVCC Youth Build Construction division provides training opportunities for youth in construction through our YouthBuild Training Academy.
Licensed contractors and industry professionals teach construction trades, skills and certify individuals to graduate from our Academy.

While a youth, ages 16 – 24, participates in our program, they have the opportunity to work full-time for 6 to 24 months toward their GED or high school diploma while learning job skills by building affordable housing in their communities.
SGVCC emphasis its curriculum on leadership development, community service, and the creation of a positive mini-community of adults and youth – committed to each other’s success. Students may earn AmeriCorps education awards through homebuilding and other community services.

SGVCC was awarded a grant to assist individuals that have had been through the Judicial System. SGVCC feels that everyone deserves a chance in life, no matter what the situation is or has been.
Through the (SMART) grant we provide services to youth for 1-2 years, starting while their still in custody. Upon their release we continue to track them and meet with them on a regular basis with the hopes that youth will stay on track with the Individual Success Plan. This plan is introduced and initiated while youth is still in custody.
The Individual Success Plan begins with an intake and assessment to evaluate the needs of youth and what issues might arise that could prevent them from succeeding. At such point, we will define a plan that gives direction for youth to become successful in their life.
